在英語中有四個單詞都表示“花費”，可以稱之為“四朵小花”，它們分別是spend，pay，cost和take，每一個都無數次考查過，也是中考最愛考的辨析之一。下面我們來看看它們的區別：

1. spend表示“花費”，其過去式和過去分詞均是spent。使用時，主語必須是“人”，賓語可以是錢，精力，時間等。Spend 常用的搭配有以下幾點：

1）spend money for sth. 表示“花錢買......”如：

My father spent a lot of money for our new house. 我爸爸花了很多錢買了我們的新房子。

2）spend time on sth. 表示“在……上花費時間”

He spends much time on his homework everyday. 他每天做作業花很多時間。

3）spend time doing sth，表示“花費時間、金錢做某事”。

We spends a lot of time (in) reading books. 我們花很多時間讀書。

4）若時間金錢做主語，則用被動語態。

Most of my time is spent in learning English.我大部分時間都被用來學英語了。

2. cost表示“費用”、“耗費”，其過去式和過去分詞均是cost。可用于表示花時間和金錢，其主語一般是“物”或“事”，無被動語態。

The coat cost him 25 dollars. 這件外套花了他25美元。

Remembering these new words cost him a lot of time. 他花了大量時間才記住了這些單詞。

注意：cost與表示時間的詞連用時，不能與具體時間長度連用，只能與表示抽象概念的時間短語(如some time,much time等)連用。

3. take其過去式是took，過去分詞是taken，可用于表示花時間、金錢、勇氣等。

1）It takes sb. ＋time＋to do sth. 表示“做某事花了某人多少時間”(句中的it是一個形式主語，真正的主語是其后的不定式短語) 。

It took the workers only 10 days to build the Huoshenshan hospital. 建造火神山醫院只花了工人們10天時間。

2）doing sth. takes sb. ＋time, 表示“做某事花了某人多少時間”，其主語是動名詞。

Cleaning the garden took me half a day. 收拾花園花了我半天的時間。

4. pay其過去式和過去分詞均為paid，用于表示花錢，不能用于表示花時間，其主語通常是“人”“支付”，有被動語態，常用的搭配有：

1）pay (sb.) money for sth. 表示“付錢（給某人）買……”

I paid him 20 dollars for the e

2）pay for sth. 表示“付……的錢”。

I have to pay for the book lost. 我不得不賠丟失的書款。

3）pay for sb. 表示“替某人付錢”。

I have never borrowed money from you, so now you can pay for my dinner. 我從未向你借過錢，所以現在你可以替我付飯錢了。

4）pay sb. 表示“付錢給某人”。

例: The boss pays us every month.他們每月給我們報酬。

5）pay money back 表示“還錢”。

He always borrows money from his friends and never pays it back. 他總是問朋友借錢，并且從來不還。

6）pay off one&39;s money表示“還清錢”。

He paid off all his debts in three years.他三年內還清了所有的債務。
