                      worth, worthy, worthwhile 這三個詞均可表示“值得的”,由于它們詞形相近,意義相似,所以許多朋友經常將其用混。小編今天花點力氣來個一鍋燴,讓大家美美噠享受大餐。

                      一、從句法功能上看

                      worth 通常只用作表語,具有介詞性質的表語形容詞,通常用在動詞 to be 之后,其后應接名詞、代詞(賓格)、數詞或主動形式的動名詞。不用于名詞前作定語;

This painting is probably worth thousands of pounds.

This book is definitely worth reading.

It was a difficult journey, but it was worth it.

It isn't worth the trouble.

He is a worthy gentleman.

His behavior is worthy of great praise.

They achieved a very worthwhile result.

We had a long wait, but it was worthwhile because we got the tickets.

We felt that the discussion had been very worthwhile.

                      This is a worthwhile career.

It wasn't worthwhile to continue/continuing the project.

This film is worth our while to see again.

                      worthy adj.

                      a worthy champion/opponent/winner

                      a worthy aim/cause/life

                      That's a worthy task.

The museum is worthy to be visited/of a visit/of being visited.

Local councillors thought that the program was worthy of support.

                      worth 習慣上不用 very 修飾(要表示類似意思可用 well),而 worthy 和 worthwhile 則可以用副詞very修飾。如:

That is very worthy of our attention.

Nursing is a very worthwhile career.

The work is very worth doing. (very 應改為 well)

This restaurant is well worth a visit

                      These books might be worth £ 80 or £ 90or more to a collector*

                      The picture is worth $ 500.

                      He's worth £10 million.

How much [ What] is this worth?

The clock is hardly worth repairing.

                      This novel is worth reading.

What is worth doing is worth doing well.

It isn't worth repairing the car.

Is it worth visiting the city?

Repairing the car is worth.

It is worth pausing to consider these statements from Mr Davies.

Nothing he said was worth listening to.

She's not worth getting angry with.

This idea is well worth considering.

It's worth making an appointment before you go.

(4)It's more than one’s job's worth to do sth.

It's more than my job's worth to let you in without a ticket.

sth.be worthy of being done= sth. be worth doing

                      sth.be worthy of +n.(除金錢、時間、精力以外的其他名詞)

                      sth.be worthy to be done

                      Sb(Sth.) be worthy to do

Their efforts are worthy of your support.

Her behavior is worthy of praise.

He is worthy to receive such honor.

This suggestion is worthy to be considered.

He is worthy of filling [=to fill] the post.

This suggestion is worthy of being considered [=to be considered].

be worth-while to do sth "值得做某事"

It is worth while to do 花時間區做某事是值得

It is worth while doing sth

It is worth one’s/the while to do/doing

                      sth. be worth while 某事值得花時間去做

sth. be worth one’s/the while 某事值得花時間去做

It didn't seem worthwhile writing it all out again.

If your water usage is very small it may be worthwhile opting for a meter.

The visit to Paris was worthwhile.

                      It’s a worthwhile (worth-while) book.

The work is worth our while.

It might be worth your while to go to court. This is tricky, though, and you'll needexpert advice.

You'll find it well worth your while to learn something of each island's special featuresbefore visiting them.

You'll find it well worth your while to learn something of each island's special features before visiting them.

The museum is worth while visiting.

誤:The museum is worth while to visit.

正:It is worthwhile visiting the place.

正:It is worthwhile to visit the place.

(It is worth doing sth除外)worthwhile=worth while可以單獨作表語。

                      The problem is worth considering.(不用worthwhile)

It is worth considering the problem. (可換用worthwhile)

It is worthwhile to consider the problem(不用worth)
