三星堆的所在地原來叫三星村，得名于那里有三個略顯突兀的小土堆，排列宛若天上的三顆星辰，而在遺址北面，是形狀如一彎新月的月亮灣臺地，這個景觀組合在歷史時期叫做“三星伴月”。
